Privacy Policy for Deducto

This privacy policy explains what data the mobile app Deducto (package name com.devotte.deducto) processes, and what happens to that data.

In short

Deducto does not ask for an account, has no login, and sends no data of its own to any server. Everything the app records about your game stays on your own device. The only party that receives data from your device is Google, for the purpose of showing advertisements.

Data that stays on your device

The app stores your progress in your device’s local storage. This covers:

your current streak, your longest streak and the number of puzzles solved;
your hint tokens and total play time, used to calculate your average;
your settings: chosen theme, unlocked themes, haptic feedback, sound and the difficulty offset;
whether you have already seen the tutorial;
an unfinished puzzle, so that you can resume it later;
counters that decide how often an advertisement may appear.

This data contains no name, email address, location or any other information that identifies you personally. It is not transmitted, not shared and not analysed. We have no access to it.

The app uses no analytics software and keeps no usage statistics on a server.

Advertising

Deducto shows advertisements through Google AdMob. In doing so, Google may process data from your device, including:

your device’s advertising ID (a resettable identifier);
your IP address and the approximate location derived from it (country or region);
information about your device, such as model, operating system and language;
information about the advertisements shown, such as whether you tapped one and whether you watched a rewarded video to the end.

Google uses this data to serve and measure advertisements, and to prevent fraud. Google acts as an independent party with its own privacy policy:

To make advertising possible, the app requests access to the internet and to your device’s advertising ID on Android. The app requests no other permissions: no location, no camera, no microphone, no contacts, no files.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent on first launch before any advertising data is processed. You can then choose between personalised and non-personalised advertisements.

You can change that choice at any time in the app’s settings. You can also reset your advertising ID or turn off personalised advertising entirely in your device settings:

Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads
iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking

Children

Deducto is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe this has happened regardless, please contact us at the address at the top of this document.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, and to withdraw your consent.

Because we do not store or receive any personal data ourselves, we hold nothing that we could disclose or delete. Data held on your own device is removed by uninstalling the app. For data processed by Google, please refer to the Google privacy policy linked above.

Retention

Data in the app remains on your device for as long as the app is installed. If you uninstall the app, it is removed along with it. Google’s retention periods are described in Google’s own privacy policy.

Security

Because the app neither transmits nor stores data outside your device, there is no server from which data could leak. Local storage is protected by the normal safeguards of your operating system: other apps cannot read it.

Changes

If this privacy policy changes, we will update the date at the top and publish the new version in the same location. We will announce significant changes in the app.
